Syrup Season is here! We did our first boil on March 7 and as of March 9 we’ve got over 1600 litres. We’ve got some Light from this year on the shelf as well as some darker syrup from last year that was just freshly bottled from barrels. We are open from 9-5 throughout March and April, off season hours are by chance or appointment (705-724-3427).
The First Tapping Ceremony will be held at our place on Saturday, March 13th. Pat Kilroy will be by with his horses for sleigh rides (weather permitting) on weekends throughout the season as well as during March Break (March 13-21). Once the trails are no longer suitable for the sleigh we’ve got a brand new wagon for behind the horses.
The Powassan United Church will once again be hosting a pancake breakfast on Saturdays during the season, from March 20th to April 17th. New this year, the Powassan Legion will be hosting pancake breakfasts on the following Sundays: March 21 and 28, and April 11 and 19 (not Easter Sunday)
The Powassan Maple Syrup Festival this year will be held on Saturday, April 24th 2010.
Our Maple Syrup and some other products are also available in North Bay at Zellers, as well as at Vested Interest on McIntyre St, downtown.
Please try to remember to bring your own cloth bags for carrying your maple syrup.
